Area Center for Educational Enhancement


On April 29, 2003, the Area Center for Enhancement and other service providers in Region II are offering the second in a series of one-day events designed for school leadership teams from Region II schools that have been graded "D" or "F." This series, Broadening Our View to Focus On Students, is providing opportunities for ongoing professional development, technical assistance, and networking with leadership teams from other schools that share many of the same school improvement challenges and concerns. This event will focus on "School Culture and Students: Impacting Student Learning." Dr. Fran Vandiver, Director of P.K. Yonge Development Research School in Gainseville, will give the keynote address.

Time: 8:00 AM - 12:30 PM
Location: Schultz Center, Jacksonville, FL

ACEE Mission

The mission of the Area Centers for Educational Enhancement (ACEE) is to build and sustain the capacity of schools and school districts in support of curriculum reform and improved instructional practice designed to enhance student achievement of Florida's Sunshine State Standards. ACEE provides leadership and technical assistance in the form of expert consultation, research-based professional development, enhanced communication and collaboration with partnering agencies and identification of resources necessary to enhance teaching and learning in Florida's K-20 classrooms.


Building Capacity for School Improvement

ACEE promotes and supports Florida's System of School Improvement and Accountability through a seamless K-20 collaboration. The emphasis is on system-wide implementation of Sunshine State Standards, Goal 3 Standards, FCAT (Reading, Writing, Mathematics, Science) and Florida Curriculum Frameworks.

 

ACEE activities include:
  • Designing and conducting needs assessments
  • Using research-based and data-driven approaches
  • Prioritizing technical assistance and support for high-need schools
  • Developing and supporting instructional leaders
  • Providing comprehensive professional development that enhances educators' capacity to maximize student learning and performance
  • Aligning curriculum and assessment with instruction of the Sunshine State Standards and Goal 3 Standards
  • Enhancing communication and collaboration with partnering agencies and institutions
  • Facilitating innovative technology applications for decision-making and instructional purposes
  • Addressing unique needs of each region's educational community
