How to Log-In to Blackboard

STEP 1: Connect to NEFEC's Blackboard site at http://bb8.nefec.org and click the User Login button.
STEP 2: Type your username into the Username field and your password into the Password field. Click Login.
STEP 3: Upon successful login, the My NEFEC Blackboard student portal page will appear with a greeting (i.e. “Welcome, test ”). Find your course in the My Courses section and click on the course link.
Blackboard Log-In Troubleshooting
Experiencing difficulty logging in? There are typically three things that could prevent someone from logging in:
1. It can be a simple typo or Caps lock button. This is the error message given when the username and/or password is not found in Blackboard: Could not login. Valid authentication credentials were not provided.
2. Cookies have to be enabled. Please check this by going to the following menu: In a window of Internet Browser, Go to the TOOLS Menu and select Internet Options. Then click the Privacy tab. Make sure this is set to Medium or lower. Then click Apply and then OK. This is typically the error message you get for this: An error occurred in the authentication module: Error occurred while trying to lookup the current session.
3. If you get this error message (No authentication credentials were provided with the request.) This is caused by an incorrect security setting on your computer. You will need to activate "Active Scripting" on your computer within Internet Explorer. To do this: Go to Tools > Internet Options > Security Tab. Click on the "Internet Zone" icon (the globe). Click on the "Custom Level" button at the bottom of the screen. Scroll down the page until you see the "Scripting" section. Be sure that "Active Scripting" is enabled.
Other issues to consider:
Make sure that you are not using a bookmark to get to the Blackboard login screen. If you do bookmark a page, it needs to be the main Blackboard page: http://bb8.nefec.org. Do not bookmark the page on which you enter your username and password. In order to establish a new "session," you need to begin from the main page.
Please note: Blackboard will not be available daily between the hours of 3 AM and 5 AM Eastern Standard Time for routine maintenance and back-ups. To prevent loss of work, please schedule your activities to ensure completion prior to 3 AM when the system becomes unavailable.
