How to Save Documents in Rich Text Format (.rtf):

Saving a file as Rich Text Format (.rtf) allows the document to be read by nearly any text editor or word processor (ie. Word, WordPerfect, Works, WordPad, etc.) while still maintaining most of the formatting. In some assignments, you are asked to create or edit a document and save it in Rich Text Format (.rtf) before uploading it into Blackboard. Follow these steps to save your document as "Rich Text Format."

To save as Rich Text Format, complete the following steps.

1. Open your file in Microsoft Word, WordPerfect, or other word-processing software.

2. Under the File Menu, choose Save As:

3. At the Save As window, click on the down arrow next to Save As Type.

4. Choose Rich Text Format, as shown below:

Backing-Up Work: To ensure you do not have to redo an assignment because of a technology glitch or loss of data, please be sure to save a copy of all work on your computer, on a back-up disk, CD, or drive.
