Provides educators with the skills needed to acquire a deeper understanding of the structure of English from a modern day linguistic perspective. Enables the educator to analyze the structure of English to contrast with the language(s) of the target population in a given class. Participants learn how to adapt classroom instructional practices to meet the linguistic needs of their English language learners.

This online course partially fulfills the Florida DOE's ESOL training requirements for Category I teachers (Primary Language Arts/ English Teacher) that need 300 hours of ESOL and is one of the five courses required for ESOL Endorsement.

NEFEC's courses are for inservice points and are not college level courses. The Florida Department of Education will not accept NEFEC's courses if they are submitted by an individual for recertification or endorsement. They must be submitted through a district as part of their approved Master Inservice Plan.

Participants are responsible for following their district’s requirements to obtain inservice credit and endorsement. If you are unsure if your district will accept courses offered through NEFEC, you will need to check with your district Staffing Development office.
