REACH Early Literacy Summit

The REACH Fall Early Literacy Summit entitled "Making A Difference" was held November 5, 2009 at the Hilton University Conference Center in Gainesville, Florida. Nearly one hundred PreK teachers and reading coaches as well as district and school-based administrators attended the one day summit. The morning consisted of a keynote address by Carol Vukelich from the University of Deleware. Dr. Vukelich's session was titled Creating a High Quality Early Reading First (ERF) Project and took participants through lessons learned from five years of ERF site visits.

In the afternoon, district and school-based administrators had the opportunity to collaborate with teachers on best practices for PreK classrooms and how they could best support their efforts now and in the future. Districts also set up table displays to showcase their classrooms of excellence.
