Internal Fonts

The StyleWriter 1200 uses bitmap (or TrueType) fonts. The Macintosh sends a bitmap of each page through the serial connection to the printer. A bitmap is a dot-by-dot "guide" to each letter or image on the page. It is created in QuickDraw, the Macintosh's internal language.

Continuous Feeding

Standard Tray: Automatic 100-sheet paper feeder which can handle a variety of stock including transparencies and envelopes. The following media sizes are supported: US Letter, US Legal, A4, Executive, #6 Envelopes, #10 Envelopes.

Loading paper into the sheet feeder

Open the printer cover.
Adjust the internal paper selector.
Adjust the external paper selector.
Load a stack of US Letter-size or A4 paper into the sheet feeder.

Loading Envelopes into the sheet feeder

Remove any paper or other materials that you don't want to use.
Adjust the external paper selector.
Load the envelopes.
Open the printer's front cover.
Adjust the internal paper selector and extend the output tray.
Close the printer cover.
Before you print, make sure that you set the software options to indicate the size and kind of material you're using.

Apple StyleWriter 1200 Messages

Sometimes the lights signal a problem.

Both lights are off. To conserve energy, the printer turns itself off if its left idle for some time (usually about 5 minutes). If you suspect a problem, press the power button. If the lights remain off, check to make sure the power cord is plugged in properly and the outlet has power. if you can't turn the printer lights on, see the information about service and support that comes with the printer.
The error light glows steadily. Either the printer is out of paper or the paper has misfed. Check your computer screen for messages.
