Clinical Educator training is a requirement by FL Dept of Ed before a teacher may supervise an intern or be assigned as a mentor in a beginning teacher program.

The training for Spring 2019 CET is a blended model of online and face-to-face. The online Moodle course will begin Tuesday, January 15th at 7:00 am. The face-to-face session will be held on Thursday, January 31, 2019 from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm.

Desired Outcomes:
Skill 1: Develop a growth mindset and apply it when working with developing educators.
Skill 2: Conduct effective content planning conferences with developing educators, using the nine steps for content lesson planning.
Skill 3: Develop skills to be an expert observer and diagnostician of teaching and learning
Skill 4: Provide targeted feedback to developing educators about their teaching practices.

During the 8 hr. CET Moodle course, participants will increase their knowledge base through readings, articles, discussion postings, and video scenarios for application practice. This is a facilitated course that includes assignments with due dates.

At the face-to-face 6 hr. session, participants will engage in multiple collaborative activities to gain experience in developing their skills.

For the 6 hr. follow-up implementation, participants will complete the full mentoring cycle with a teacher to implement skills learned during the training.

PLEASE NOTE:
Participation in all three sessions of the CET training is required to receive certification: online Moodle course, face-to-face session, and follow-up implementation.

Travel and substitutes will not be reimbursed by NEFEC.

NEFEC's courses are for inservice points. The Florida Department of Education will not accept NEFEC's courses if they are submitted by an individual for recertification. They must be submitted through a district as part of its approved Master Inservice Plan.

Participants are responsible for following their district’s requirements to obtain inservice credit and endorsement. If you are unsure if your district will accept courses offered through NEFEC, you will need to check with your district Staffing Development office.
