Alice Schmitges

I am the Program Specialist for The Institute for Small and Rural Districts (ISRD) project. ISRD is a discretionary project grant funded by the Bureau of Exceptional Education and Student Services (BEESS). The mission of Florida's K-20 education system is to increase the proficiency of all students within one seamless efficient system, by allowing them the opportunity to expand their knowledge and skills through learning opportunities and research valued by students, parents and communities. In support of the Florida Department of Education’s Mission, ISRD provides training and technical assistance designed to support positive outcomes for students with disabilities and their families across a network of forty five (45) small and rural Florida school districts. The project assists district level administrators and school-based administrators as they implement the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA 2004) regulations and the Florida State Performance Plan (SPP). It is truly an honor to support the districts and the three (3) consortia which includes the Panhandle Area Educational Consortium (PAEC), the North East Florida Educational Consortium (NEFEC) and the Heartland Educational Consortium (HEC).
