Note: printing from the Macintosh requires Larger Print Area (Fewer Downloadable Fonts) to be checked in Page Setup (Options). The IBM PC (or compatible) takes advantage of the larger imageable area automatically.

Note: For the optional 250-sheet feeder, there is a margin dial which affects the left margin.

Standard Trays: One 250-sheet letter paper cassette, 100-sheet multipurpose tray.

Optional Trays: Lower 250-sheet optional feeder, 250-sheet universal paper cassette (fits into either the printer's original cassette slot or the optional feeder.

Loading paper into the standard paper cassette

  1. Slide the paper cassette out of the printer. Grasp the handle, squeeze to release the latch, lift and pull the cassette out.
  2. Prepare a stack of paper. You can load up to 250 sheets of 20 lb. photocopier paper. Make sure the edges are all even before inserting the stack of paper.
  3. Slide the stack into the cassette.
  4. Slide the paper under the bracket at the front of the cassette.
  5. Slide the cassette into the printer.

Using the multipurpose tray

The multipurpose tray is built into the printer. You can use the multipurpose tray for automatic and manual feed printing.

  1. Open the multipurpose tray. Pull on the latch at the top of the tray and then lower the tray slowly. Pull open the extension to adjust the tray so that your paper does not extend over the edge.
  2. Load the media into the multipurpose tray. You can load up to 100 sheets or a single sheet for manual feeding. When the printer expects to find paper in the tray, the Paper Out light comes on to let you know that you should put paper in the tray.

Using the optional 250-sheet universal cassette

  1. Slide the cassette out of the printer or optional sheet feeder.
  2. Set the width guide to match your paper's width. The cassette is marked with positions for paper of US letter, A4, B5, and legal sizes.
  3. Set the length guide to match your paper's length.
  4. Insert your paper within the guides.
  5. Set the size guide on the front to match your paper's size. Setting this guide indicates to the printer the size of the paper in the cassette.
  6. Insert the paper cassette into the printer or optional feeder.

Apple LaserWriter IINTX Interfaces

All ports are active by factory default. You must set the configuration switch to the right and use the Apple Printer Utility or send PostScript files to the printer to change interface settings.
