Continuous Feeding

You can put up to 100 sheets of copier-weight bond paper into the paper cassette supplied with the printer. You can use the following sizes: US Letter, A4, B5, US Legal, or Executive.

Pull the cassette out of the printer.
Adjust the cassette for your paper.

Make sure the backstop is in one of the notches. If you set it between notches, you may cause a printing error.
Insert a stack of paper under the brackets. If you use 3-hole paper, line up the holes as shown:

To help insert your paper under the bracket at the front of the cassette, press the metal tab on the side of the cassette to lift the bracket.
Slide the cassette back into the printer.

Manually Feeding Paper or Envelopes

If you want to use paper that is different from what's already in the paper cassette, you can use the manual feed slot to insert sheets one at a time as the document is printed. You can also use the slot to print envelopes, heavier paper, or paper of nonstandard sizes. Envelopes should always be manually fed into the paper feed slot. Make sure that the paper delivery lever is pressed down for face-up delivery.

NOTE: If you are printing envelopes, choose an envelope size from the Page Setup dialog box. Additionally, there may be settings in your application to correctly format the margins to align the text on the envelope.

Choose File Print.
Choose Manual Feed from the Paper Source pop-up menu in the print dialog box.
Click Print. You will see a message asking you to get ready to insert paper into the printer.
Don't insert the paper yet. Click OK. The green Ready/In Use light flashes to indicate that the printer is processing the document for printing.
Wait until the amber Paper Out light begins to flash on the printer.
Insert a sheet of paper or envelope. Be sure to keep the paper straight so it feeds correctly. The printer will draw the paper in about 1/8th of an inch. Once the paper is drawn into the printer, you can release it.

The sheet or envelope you inserted will print. If the document has additional pages, a message on your screen will alert you each time a new sheet or envelope is needed. To avoid paper jams, always wait for the amber Paper Out light on the printer to begin flashing before inserting a new sheet or envelope.

The lights indicate a problem

Light	On	Off	Flashing

Ready/In Use	Printer is ready to use.	Printer cannot print due to an error condition, or the cover is open.	Printer is warming up, printing a startup page, or processing data for the next print job.


Paper Out*	Paper cassette is empty.	Paper supply is OK.	Printer is ready for next sheet of manual-fed paper. Or printer may require service.

Paper Jam*	There is a paper jam.	Paper is OK.	Printer requires service.

*If the Paper Out and Paper Jam lights both flash, or if they both stay on, the printer requires service.
