Canon LBP-1260 Messages

Message Meaning Resolution

PCL READY The printer is ready to print. This is the default ready message. No action is required. If necessary, press ON LINE.
COLD RESET You pressed the ON LINE key while you turned on the printer. The printer returns all menu items to their factory default settings. No action required.
CONT. SELF TEST The continuous Test Page is printing. Press the CONTINUE key to stop the test.
FONT PRINTOUT The font list is printing. Wait for it to complete
I/O INITIALIZING The printer is initializing itself an dthe AppleTalk interface card is installed. Wait for it to complete
LOCALTALK INIT The printer is initializing itself an dthe AppleTalk interface card is installed. Wait for it to complete
MEMORY CONFIG A parameter, such as resolution or page protection, has been changed from the operator panel or print stream, and the printer is resetting itself. This clears all temporary fonts, macros, and data from the printer memory When complete, the printer returns on-line.
NO JAM RECOVERY If a paper jam occurs, the printer will not be able to recover the current image.  
PRINTING TEST The Test Page or Printer Settings Page is printing. Wait for it to complete
RESET You have pressed the RESET key. The printer clears buffered print data, temporary soft fonts, and temporary macros. No action is required unless the printer is receiving data.
SELF TEST You have selected teh Test Page or Printer Settings Page from the operator panel. Remove the cassette from the paper feeder and check if the paper stack is resting flat under the retaining clips and if the stack height is below the limit mark. I not, reset the paper properly.
SINGLE COPY ONLY Due to memory limitations, the printer will print one copy only of the current image regardless of the number of copies selected.  
WARMING UP The printer is warming up and is not ready to accept data. Wait until the printer signals it is ready. If necessary, press ON LINE.
DOOR OPEN The printer's top cover is not closed securely, or your toner cartridge is not installed correctly. Make sure the toner cartridge is fully seated and close the cover firmly.
FEED paper size You need to manually feed the specified media. Paper size may be LETTER, LEGAL, EXEC, or A4. Insert the appropriate media size into the multipurpose tray and press ON LINE to print; or press CONTINUE to override the request.
FEED envelope size You need to manually feed the specified envelope. Envelope size may be COM10, MONARCH, B5, C5, or DL. Insert the appropriate envelope size into the multipurpose tray and press ON LINE to print; or press CONTINUE to override the request.
LOAD paper size You requested a paper or envelope size not available in the printer. Load the correct paper size in the specified tray or cassette and press ON LINE to print; or press CONTINUE to override the request.
LOAD envelope size You requested an envelope size that is not currently loaded in the multipurpose tray or optional Envelope Feeder.Envelope size may be COM10, MONARCH, B5, C5, or DL. Load the correct envelope size into the tray or feeder and press ON LINE to print; or press CONTINUE to override the request.
NO TONER CART The toner cartridge is not installed correctly. Insert a toner cartridge or make sure the cartridge is fully seated and the top cover is fully closed. Then press CONTINUE or ON LINE to resume.
PAPER JAM Paper is jammed in the paper path or the paper jam sensor at the back of the fusing assembly may be stuck, causing a false paper jam warning. Remove the jammed paper. After clearing the jam, open and close the top cover or the back cover. Then press CONTINUE or ON LINE to resume printing. Check the the piece of cardboard has been removed from the fusing assembly and that the fuser levers are in the down position.
RESET TO SAVE You changed an item in the PCL PRINT MENU or PCL CONFIG MENU while data, temporary fonts, or temporary macros were present in printer memory, or while the printer was in the middle of a job. Press CONTINUE or ON LINE. Your changes remain recorded in the manu (marked with an *) and take effect for the next job. Pressing RESET clears the current job.
TONER LOW The toner cartridge is running out of toner. Take the toner cartridge out of the printer and gently shake it to redistribute the toner. If you still see this message, replace the cartridge.
I/O ERROR: ## The printer received and I/O error from the AppleTalk interface. The ## indicates the code number.  
MEM ALLOCATION ERROR A memory allocation error has occurred. You must reset the printer.
MEM OVERFLOW The printer received more data from the computer than can fit in its available memory. You may have downloaded too many macros or soft fonts, or graphics that were too complex. This problem also may be caused by prining too many typefaces at 600dpi. Press CONTINUE to print the downloaded data. The remaining data will print on a new page. Then either simplify your print job or install additional memory.
PRINT OVERRUN The printer may have lost data that was too complex for it to create and print. Press CONTINUE to resume printing. If this problem occurs frequently, install additional memory.
RAM ERROR: n A RAM check error occurred during the power-up. The n indicated the I/O channel. Press CONTINUE to attempt normal operation. If the problem persists, call the Canon help desk.
ROM XSUM ERROR: n A ROM checksum error occurred during power-up. The n indicates the I/O channel. Press CONTINUE to attempt normal operation. If the problem persists, call the Canon help desk.
SERIAL COMM. ERROR An I/O buffer overrun error occurred. The computer and printer are not communicating because of incorrect signal protocols for the serial or parallel communications. Press CONTINUE to clear the error message (data will be lost). If you are using a parallel configuration, check for a loose cable. If you are using a serial configuration, check for the correct serial pacing option. The printer uses XON/XOFF and DTR/DSR signal protocols rather than ETX/ACK protocols.
