Principals will attend the first day of professional learning covering standards-based instruction in the area of ELA in a session with teachers. The second day will be an "implementation" session with NEFEC leadership to help assist administrators with "look fors" in planning and instructional practices of teachers based on the "Standards- Based" PL from the day before.
PARTICIPANTS WILL BE ABLE TO identify look-fors and instructional practices for the outcomes below:
1. describe the meaning of the standards and relate demands of standards to ELA learning/instruction in K-5
2. describe and develop a ladder of text-dependent questions
3. describe the rationale for having students interact with a sequence of texts on the same topic
4. create an effective sequence of texts to increase the knowledge of students.
Please Note: This is a repeat of the NEFEC Regional ELA Standards Institute that was held at Williston Middle High in Levy last summer. Previous attendees should not attend.
