Structured environments promote a clear understanding of the schedules, activities, routines and expectations for both the individuals with special needs and their caregivers. Specifically, structured environments allow individuals to understand and predict what is happening in their environments, predict the expectations, acquire new skills and generalize skills from one setting to another.
During the morning session, you will learn the importance of creating and sharing your expectations for a student’s behavior across settings. You will learn about structured work tasks and how to create them. You will also learn about Lesson Pix, an easy-to-use online resource that allows users to create various customized learning materials including picture schedules, visual supports, games, social stories and much, much more.
After lunch, participants will have the opportunity to create visual supports and structured work tasks geared specifically for their own classroom needs. Participants will leave this training with ready to use curriculum extensions and a FREE one year membership to Lesson Pix!
