The Education of Special Populations of Gifted Students module provides an overview of the challenges and issues that face diverse populations of gifted students as they struggle to gain acceptance, recognition, and access to appropriate gifted education to meet their individual needs. This online course is one of the five courses required for Gifted Endorsement.

There is no required textbook for this course.

Participants will spend approximately 6-8 hours per week to complete the course in the 8 week timeline. The course is completely online and requires no face-to-face meetings or specific dates/times required to be online.

An email will be sent to each participant with login information and directions for accessing the course through Moodle, NEFEC's course management system, by 4:30 PM on the start date of the course. Sometimes legitimate email messages are filtered by Spam filters within an email program. If you have not received login information by 4:30 PM on the course start date, please check first to see if the message is in a junk or spam mail folder within your email program. If you do not find it, contact elearning@nefec.org to verify your email and to have the information resent.

NEFEC's courses are for inservice points and are not college level courses. The Florida Department of Education will not accept NEFEC's courses if they are submitted by an individual for recertification or endorsement. They must be submitted through a district as part of its approved Professional Learning Catalogue. Participants are responsible for following their district’s requirements to obtain inservice credit and endorsement. If you are unsure if your district will accept courses offered through NEFEC, you will need to check with your district Staffing Development office.
