Clinical Educator Training is a requirement by Florida Statutes and FLDOE for educators who will serve as mentors for one of the following:
1) teacher candidates assigned to a supervised field experience or internship,
2) novice or beginning teachers, or
3) a developing professional.

Fall 2024 CET Course is limited to 25 participants for this semester.
CET Desired Outcomes: Four Skills of an Effective Mentor
Skill 1: Develop and apply a growth mindset when working with developing educators.
Skill 2: Conduct effective content planning conferences with developing educators.
Skill 3: Develop skills to be an expert observer and diagnostician of teaching and learning.
Skill 4: Provide effective feedback to developing educators about their teaching practices.
The NEFEC Clinical Educator Training is a 20-hour program that uses a blended learning model with three components: 1) a Moodle online course, 2) one face-to-face session, and 3) a job-embedded Mentor Cycle as the follow-up implementation phase.
PLEASE NOTE:
All three components must be completed during the timeline established for the Fall 2024 CET program to receive certification.
1)September 27, 2024- October 29, 2024/ 8-hour Moodle Course
This is a facilitated course that includes assignments with Due Dates.
Through readings, discussion forums, and video scenarios, participants will develop and increase their knowledge of the Four Skills of an Effective Mentor.
2) October 30, 2024, 9:00- 3:30 / 6-hour Face-to-Face Session
Participants will engage in collaborative activities to gain experience in applying the Four Skills of an Effective Mentor.
3) October 31, 2024- November 27, 2024 / Job-embedded Mentor Cycle in school / 6 total hours
Participants will complete the full Mentor Cycle with an intern, beginning teacher, or teacher/educator assigned by an administrator to implement the Four Skills of an Effective Mentor.
The mentor Cycle requires time out of the classroom for conferencing and observation

•Post-observation conference
Your registration for the CET Training will be Pending until the Required Approval Letter is received from your administrator.

Once the approval letter is in the NEFEC office, you will receive an Approval email from NEFEC.
The completed letter must be sent to the NEFEC office before the training begins.
NEFEC's courses are for in-service points. The Florida Department of Education will not accept NEFEC's courses if they are submitted by an individual for recertification. They must be submitted through a district as part of its approved Professional Learning Catalog (Master Inservice Plan).
Participants are responsible for following their district’s requirements to obtain in-service credit and endorsement. If you are unsure if your district will accept courses offered through NEFEC, you will need to check with your district Staffing Development office.
There is no fee for NEFEC Instructional Services Member Districts to attend NEFEC Clinical Educator Training.
These districts include Baker, Bradford, Columbia, Dixie, Flagler, FSDB, FSU Lab School, Gilchrist, Hamilton, Hernando, Lafayette, Levy, Madison, Monroe, Nassau, PK Yonge, Putnam, Suwannee, and Union.
NEFEC district members will have priority in attending the training.
There is a fee of $100 per participant for all other districts.
Travel and substitutes will not be reimbursed by NEFEC.
There must be 15 participants to hold the session.
